Best Management Institute Award has been created by Mahendra & Young Knowledge Foundation in 1999 and was sponsored by Mr.M.K.Chouhan, Chairman, "Mahendra & Young Knowledge Foundation", in the memory of his father late Shri N.H.Chouhan, who was an Educationist & "Sahitya Ratna" (which means 'Jewel of Literature'). The award is given every year to the "Management Institute" that has made the most significant contribution to the quality of management education. The award has been instituted under the aegis of Bombay Management Association (BMA), which India's most premier management Association, by donating a corpus. Award comprises of a 'Revolving Trophy & a Citation' for the winning Institute. Foundation also funds specific research every year, by a full time faculty of winning management Institute. The research is undertaken in one of the thrust areas of the Foundation like Corporate Governance, World Trade / IPR, Strategic & International Management, education & Healthcare.
On the occasion of 1st International Conference on Corporate Governance titled "International Trends in CG - Some Recommendations for India" on 16th August 1999 at Hotel Taj Bombay. It was jointly organised by Mahendra & Young Knowledge Foundation, Bombay Management Association (BMA), USIS and Indo- American Chamber of Commerce and was address by Ms. Carolyn Brancato, Director of the Global Corporate Governance Research Centre, Conference Board - USA.
